Isipathana Won Inaugural Under -15 Handball Challenge 2012

Isipatana Colege, Colombo and Meddebadda MV, Wasalakotte emerged boys and girls cup champions respectively at the inaugural Under-15 Handball Challenge 2012 at the D S Senanayake College Indoor Stadium last Sunday.

Isipatana Colllege Colombo beat Prince of Wales Moratuwa by 9-4 in the boys' final while Meddebadda MV, Wasalakotte beat Buddhists Ladies College, Colombo by 7 goals to nil in the girls' final.

St Anthony's College, Wasalakotte emerged boys' Plate champions, beating Homagama Central College by 4 goals to 3 and the girls Plate championship went to Anula Vidyalaya, Nugegoda when they beat Homagama Central College 6 goals to 1.

The boys Bowl championship was won by Isipatana College Colombo "B" Team after registering a 4-3 victory over Royal College, Panadura. In the girls Bowl championship final, Davi Balika Vidyalaya Colombo "B" were the winners when they beat Sunethradevi Balika MV, Pepiliyana by 8-1.

Sixteen boys' and 12 girls' schools teams battled for the glory during the tournament which was organized by the sports website with the assistance of the Sri Lanka Schools Handball Association. It has also created history when it became the first ever under 15 schools indoor handball tournament held in Sri Lanka.

Certificate of participation were awarded to given away for all the players with the official certification from the Sri Lanka Schools Handball Association.
