The Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association (SLSRFA) took a decision yesterday to work in accordance with the rules and regulations set by the Department of Education when dealing with protests regarding the eligibility of players.
Denzil Darling Secretary SLSRFA told
"S.Thomas’ College has protested about the eligibility of the player stating that he doesn’t have the required results from the O’level examination to remain in school. We have conducted the inquiry, but can’t make the results public till the council of the school rugby section meets and gives permission for that. Till then, the solution to this issue is to follow the Department of Education regulations which clearly state that the lad can remain in school, with the results he has. This also clears him to represent the school at sports,’’said Darling.
Darling said that this decision taken by the Department of Education will benefit many schoolboy rugby players this season.
